Beef and Ale Stew (with Garlic Bread topping)

Serves 4

• 600ml fresh beef stock

• 1 x 440ml can strong ale, like Bishop's Finger

• 1 large onion, chopped

• 2 medium carrots, peeled and sliced

• 2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed

• 1 bay leaf

• 2 sprigs thyme or rosemary

• 2tbsp cornflour or plain flour

• 1 tbsp Wholegrain Mustard

• 1 tbsp dark brown sugar

• 450g Braising Steak, cut into cubes

• 4 rashers rindless streaky bacon, chopped

• Garlic Bread, sliced
